The parallel Levitical-city catalog of 1 Chronicles names Tabor — the settlement at the foot of Mount Tabor — as one of the two Zebulun cities allotted to the Merarite branch of the Levites alongside Rimmono.
1 Chronicles 6:77 names the Zebulun Levitical cities allotted to the Merarite branch: "Unto the rest of the children of Merari were given out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmono with her suburbs, Tabor with her suburbs." Tabor here refers to the Levitical settlement at the foot of Mount Tabor — distinct from the mountain itself that dominates the Jezreel Valley skyline. The settlement is sometimes identified with Chisloth-tabor on Issachar's northern boundary (Joshua 19:12), or with modern Daburiyeh village on the lower slopes of the mountain. The Levitical priestly presence at this strategic site anchored the worship infrastructure of lower Galilee.
