Samson's father — who had an angelic encounter and thought he was going to die
A man from the tribe of Dan whose wife was barren. The Angel of the LORD appeared to her (and later to Manoah) announcing that she would bear a son who would be a Nazirite and begin to deliver Israel from the Philistines (Judges 13) — after the angel ascended in the flame of the altar, Manoah said to his wife 'We shall surely die, for we have seen God.' She calmly pointed out that God probably wouldn't have told them all this just to kill them.
