Jeremiah's hometown — a priestly city in Benjamin
BenjaminHistorically Verified
Iron Age pottery has been found at the site near modern Anata. It lines up with the biblical descriptions of Jeremiah's hometown.
A priestly city in the territory of Benjamin, about three miles northeast of Jerusalem. Best known as the hometown of the prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:1). It was also the city where Solomon banished the priest Abiathar (1 Kings 2:26). The town appears in lists of Levitical cities and among the settlements repopulated after the Babylonian exile.
