A boundary marker on the western frontier of Naphtali at the foot of Mount Tabor
GalileeAznoth-tabor ("ears of Tabor") was a boundary point on the western frontier of Naphtali's tribal inheritance in lower Galilee (Joshua 19:34): "And then the coast turneth westward to Aznoth-tabor, and goeth out from thence to Hukkok." The name evokes a topographical feature — likely two parallel ridges or "ear-shaped" hills extending west from the great isolated mass of Mount Tabor that rises dramatically out of the eastern Jezreel Valley. The site is generally identified with Khirbet Umm Jebeil at the western base of Mount Tabor, where the surveyor's line turned to begin tracing the southwestern boundary toward Issachar.
