Wilderness camp where Miriam was struck with leprosy after challenging Moses
SinaiHistorically Verified
Tradition identifies it with 'Ain Hadra in the eastern Sinai. The springs there would have supported a large encampment, and the location fits the itinerary in Numbers 33.
A wilderness encampment on Israel's journey from Sinai toward Kadesh-barnea (Numbers 11:35; 12:16; 33:17). It was at Hazeroth that Miriam and Aaron grumbled against Moses about his Cushite wife and challenged his unique prophetic authority. The Lord descended in a pillar of cloud, defended Moses, and struck Miriam with leprosy "white as snow." Moses cried out for her healing; she was confined outside the camp for seven days before the people resumed the march (Numbers 12:1-15).
