A boundary marker on the northern coastal frontier of Asher near Tyre
PhoeniciaHosah ("refuge") was a boundary point on the northern coastal frontier of Asher's tribal inheritance near Tyre, named in Joshua 19:29: "And then the coast turneth to Ramah, and to the strong city Tyre; and the coast turneth to Hosah; and the outgoings thereof are at the sea from the coast to Achzib." The town appears only in this single boundary list. The exact site is uncertain but lay on the Mediterranean shore between Tyre and Achzib, in the contested coastal corridor where Phoenician maritime culture dominated the Israelite tribal frontier.
