A Judahite settlement named in the Chroniclers genealogy of the Calebite family lines
Judean Hill CountryIr-nahash ("city of the serpent") was a Judahite settlement preserved in the Chronicler's genealogy of Caleb's family: "And Chelub the brother of Shuah begat Mehir, which was the father of Eshton. And Eshton begat Beth-rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir-nahash" (1 Chronicles 4:11-12). The town appears only in this single Calebite genealogy and is uncertain in location. It lay somewhere in the Judean hill country among the cluster of small Calebite-Bethlehemite settlements south of Bethlehem.
