A Levitical Kohathite city in Ephraim and a town in Solomons fifth administrative district
EphraimJokmeam appears as one of the Levitical cities given to the Kohathite clan of Levi within the tribal territory of Ephraim: "and Jokmeam with her suburbs, and Beth-horon with her suburbs" (1 Chronicles 6:68). The town is also listed in Solomon's administrative reorganization as part of the fifth district under Baana the son of Ahilud, which encompassed Taanach and Megiddo: "Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel" (1 Kings 4:12). Its exact location in central Ephraim remains uncertain.
