The brook forming the boundary between Ephraim and Manasseh and a separate town in the Asher allotment
EphraimKanah designates two distinct biblical sites. Primarily it names the brook (wadi) that formed the boundary between the tribal allotments of Ephraim and Manasseh: "the coast went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea" (Joshua 16:8; cf. 17:9) — identified with Wadi Qanah, which rises in the central highlands east of Shechem and flows west to join the Yarkon River near the Mediterranean. Secondarily, Kanah is listed among the cities of the Asher allotment in the western Galilee: "Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, even unto great Zidon" (Joshua 19:28), generally identified with Khirbet Qana about six miles north of modern Nazareth.
