Mizpeh of Gilead — Jephthah's base east of the Jordan where Jacob and Laban set up the covenant heap
GileadMizpeh of Gilead — the watchtower town in Transjordan where Laban and Jacob raised a heap of stones as a covenant boundary marker (Genesis 31:49). It became the rallying point in Gilead from which Jephthah led Israel against the Ammonites after they made him their head (Judges 11:11). Distinct from Mizpah of Benjamin, this Mizpeh sat in the highlands east of the Jordan, watching over the territory of Gad and Manasseh.
