Moses Catalogs Reubens Transjordan Inheritance Through Sibmah Zereth-shahar Beth-peor and Ashdoth-pisgah

Joshua 13:15-20 records the Reubenite Transjordan inheritance Moses had earlier assigned: "And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben inheritance according to their families... And Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon, And Jahazah, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath, And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zareth-shahar in the mount of the valley, And Beth-peor, and Ashdoth-pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth." The catalog covers the central Moabite plateau territory between the Arnon River and the Dead Sea — fertile pasturelands that explained why the cattle-rich tribes of Reuben and Gad had begged Moses for this Transjordan allotment in the first place.
