The Western Benjaminite Inner Cluster of Rekem Irpeel Taralah and Zelah — Bible Events

Joshua 18:27-28 catalogs the western cluster of Benjamin's tribal allotment between Mizpeh and Jerusalem: "And Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah, And Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families." The cluster filled the central highlands along the watershed corridor where Benjamin's territory met Judah's in the strategically vital ridge that became the spiritual and political heart of early Israel — culminating in Jerusalem itself. Most of these small villages cannot be precisely located today.
