The Western Benjaminite Towns of the Post-Exile Resettlement

Nehemiah 11:31-35 records the geographic spread of Benjaminite resettlement after the return from Babylon, reaching beyond the central highlands into the western Shephelah toward the coastal plain: "At Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah, Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim, Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat, Lod, and Ono, the valley of craftsmen." This western cluster — Ananiah (later Bethany), Lod (later Lydda where Peter healed Aeneas), Ono, Hadid, Zeboim, and Neballat — marked the renewed Israelite settlement reach toward the Mediterranean coast.
