A Benjaminite town in the eastern tribal allotment between Zelah and Rekem
BenjaminTaralah appears once in Scripture in Joshua's catalog of the twelve cities of Benjamin's eastern district: "And Beeroth, and Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah, And Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah, And Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages" (Joshua 18:25-28). The town lay in the central highlands of Benjamin's allotment between Mozah and Zelah on the western frontier of the tribe — the same general region where many of Benjamin's small ridge-top villages clustered. The exact location of Taralah remains unidentified by archaeology, somewhere west or northwest of Jerusalem.
