The Hebrew "Mount of Megiddo" — site of the apocalyptic battle of the kings of the earth in Revelations final vision
Jezreel ValleyArmageddon (Greek Har Magedōn — "the mountain of Megiddo") appears once in Scripture, in the apocalyptic vision of Revelation 16:14-16: three unclean spirits go forth to gather the kings of the whole world for the great battle of God Almighty, "and he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." The chosen site evokes the great battles fought through the Jezreel Valley below Megiddo across Israel's history — Joshua, Deborah and Barak, Josiah's death-fight against Pharaoh Necho. John's vision concentrates them into one final cosmic confrontation at Tel Megiddo.
