A boundary town between Issachar and Zebulun at the foot of Mount Tabor
GalileeChesulloth ("loins" or "flanks") was a boundary point of Issachar's tribal inheritance named in Joshua 19:18 as the first of the tribe's sixteen cities: "And their border was toward Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem." The same site appears as Chisloth-tabor in Joshua 19:12 as a boundary point of Zebulun — confirming the town's location on the frontier between the two tribes, at the foot of Mount Tabor on the southern edge of the lower Galilee. The site is identified with the modern village of Iksal about 5 km southeast of Nazareth.
