The "stone of help" Samuel set up between Mizpah and Shen to commemorate God's thunderous victory over the Philistines
BenjaminAfter God thundered from heaven and routed the Philistine army at the Battle of Mizpah (1 Samuel 7:10-12), the prophet Samuel set up a memorial stone between Mizpah and Shen and named it Ebenezer — meaning "stone of help" — declaring, "Thus far the Lord has helped us." Earlier in the narrative the Israelite camp by the same name (1 Samuel 4-5) was where the Ark of the Covenant was captured by the Philistines, making the later victory at Ebenezer a deliberate reversal of that disaster.
