Ebenezer

After God thundered from heaven and routed the Philistine army at the Battle of Mizpah (1 Samuel 7:10-12), the prophet Samuel set up a memorial stone between Mizpah and Shen and named it Ebenezer — meaning "stone of help" — declaring, "Thus far the Lord has helped us." Earlier in the narrative the Israelite camp by the same name (1 Samuel 4-5) was where the Ark of the Covenant was captured by the Philistines, making the later victory at Ebenezer a deliberate reversal of that disaster.
