Galilean village where Jesus raised a widow's only son from his funeral procession
GalileeHistorically Verified
Modern Nein in northern Israel preserves the biblical name. A Franciscan church on the northern slope of the Hill of Moreh marks the traditional site of the miracle.
A small Galilean village about ten miles southeast of Nazareth where Jesus performed one of his most striking miracles. As he approached the town with a large crowd, he met a funeral procession carrying out the only son of a widow. Moved with compassion, Jesus told the widow not to weep, touched the bier, and commanded the dead man to rise. The young man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother (Luke 7:11-17). The crowd glorified God and the news spread throughout Judea.
