The hometown of Pedaiah father of Zebidah mother of King Jehoiakim of Judah
GalileeRumah appears once in Scripture in the brief introduction to the apostate reign of King Jehoiakim son of Josiah: "Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah" (2 Kings 23:36). Pedaiah of Rumah was thus the maternal grandfather of the king whose burning of Jeremiah's scroll, taxation of the land for Pharaoh-Necho, and burial "with the burial of an ass" outside the gates of Jerusalem brought the kingdom of Judah within a generation of its destruction. The site is commonly identified with Khirbet Rumah in lower Galilee.
