The starting point of the boundary description of Zebuluns inheritance in Galilee
GalileeSarid ("survivor") was the starting point of the boundary description of Zebulun's inheritance in lower Galilee — the surveyor's anchor from which "the boundary of their inheritance went up westward to Maralah and touched Dabbesheth" (Joshua 19:10-12). It marked the southwestern corner of Zebulun where the allotment met Issachar and Manasseh in the upper Jezreel Valley. The site is identified with Tel Shadud about five miles southwest of Nazareth. The sixth-century Madaba Map shows a town here named Saridi, preserving the original name.
