The hill where Samson hurled away the donkeys jawbone after slaying a thousand Philistines
ShephelahRamath-lehi ("hill of the jawbone") appears once as the climactic site of Samson's solo battle: "And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-lehi" (Judges 15:17). The Spirit of the Lord rushed on Samson, he broke the ropes binding him, seized the fresh jawbone of a donkey, and struck down a thousand Philistines single-handedly. The exhausted hero then cried for water; the Lord split the rock and a spring poured out — En-hakkore ("spring of the caller"). The site lay in Judah's Shephelah between Timnah and Etam.
